Right HereRight Here is a public artwork that explores places through the memories of their citizens. This work has been carried out in the small town of Clavesana (Italy) and in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) during two artist’s residencies. The artist asked some citizens to sketch their paths and walk her there according to some of their experiences, by relating places and memories. This work aspires to build a different perception of places by mixing biography and geography: It focuses on everyday and neglected spaces, the ones we do not notice while we walk through. Some of these places are beautiful and unexpected, whereas others are ordinary and banal. Right Here is made of maps, photographs and videos. The relationship between photography, personal narrative and cartography creates a language short circuit that responds to the complexity of the territory.
