When We Were Kids, It Was a Missile BaseThis work deals with the issues of surveillance and control. The images show a quiet night near the Quinta Avenida in La Habana (Cuba), from the same points of view of some surveillance cameras on a rooftop. The tower on the right is the Russian Embassy: Some Cuban friends thought it was a ‘missile base’ when they were kids in the late Eighties. As a counterpoint to the surveillance cameras there are short clips of a lush nature, which take the viewer to the Caribbean imagery. [2014] |
